Not only was yesterday Pi Day, but I recently found out it was also Albert Einstein's birthday.
So, we had ourselves a little Pi Party.
OK. Not really. It was a Celebration of Circles without which we wouldn't hold pi in such high esteem.
Starting with . . . the PIE.
We made apple pie -- filling from here, crust from here.
Chad did the crust. And normally we wouldn't use whole wheat flour, but we're trying to add more whole grains, so this time we used half whole wheat and half all-purpose.
Our entire meal featured wonderful circles.
Circle peas. Circle turkey burgers. Circle buns. Circle bagels (normally this isn't at a dinner, but in honor of Pi Day, we made an exception). Circle macaroni.
What? Circle macaroni? Those don't look like circles.
And you're right. They're not circles. But they do have a round hole and so in the idea of having at least something the kids thought was "food," we included the macaroni group.
My burger . . . because life's more fun when you can draw on your food in mustard.
Isaac's sending everyone smooches!
Isaac is also a toothless wonder these days and thus is eating from the far side of his mouth. Missing your two front teeth and having an ultra wiggly lower one will do that!
Coming full circle (oh, the fun I have with words!) . . .
Look what happened to the pie! I don't know if it's because of the whole wheat flour or the unorthodox assemblage, but whatever it was created a gaping hole above the filling.
Doesn't matter though because it all eats the same!
And this was one delicious pie (or pi, whichever).
