Hippie Eggs

OK . . . so they're not really Hippie, but they certainly do look tie-dyed!
Years ago I saw this in Family Fun magazine, and we've been dyeing our Easter eggs this way ever since.
Check the website -- they have excellent instructions and way better pictures.

We've found that the little, squatty food dye (can't remember the brand name) gives really bright, deep color; whereas the Sauer tall, cylindrical bottles of dye give you more of a pastel look.
We like bright around here, so we mostly stick with that.

Isaac wanted to show off his holey mouth.

Ezren is such a cuddler.  I was lucky to catch one of his spontaneous hugs with Isaac.

Don't you love the corn dog box?
They have come in handy more times than I can remember.

Notice that there are nine holes and only eight eggs.
That's because before we got started, Ezren took an egg and literally smashed it onto the table.
So, he only got to dye two eggs.
But that gave the kids an opportunity to eat some after all their hard work dyeing!
Olivia gets very excited when I make hard boiled eggs (it doesn't happen often because Chad complains and complains about the smell in the fridge until they are gone).
This was Ezren's first time eating one!
